New Orleans, LA – This week, the Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE) released School Performance Scores (SPS) for the 2021-2022 school year, and ReNEW Schools saw strong growth. ReNEW Dolores T. Aaron (DTA), ReNEW Laurel Elementary (Laurel) and ReNEW Schaumburg Elementary (Schaumburg) earned ‘A’ letter grades in the LDOE’s Progress Index, which measures growth year-to-year.

NEW ORLEANS — ReNEW Schools CEO Tanya Bryant joined New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell and other city officials Wednesday to announce the launch of a down payment assistant program for teachers in the Orleans Parish school system. The $1.5 million home ownership program will support early childhood educators, K-12 teachers and school behavioral health professionals.

New Orleans, LA -- ReNEW SciTech Academy, located in the Irish Channel neighborhood of New Orleans, is undergoing a name change that will be familiar to many in the community.
Following the current academic year, SciTech will fully-adopt its traditional name, Laurel Elementary. School officials are also bringing back Laurel’s mascot, Eagles, as well as its original colors, burgundy and gray.

January 27, 2021 — We want to share an important update from NOLA Public Schools regarding the return of students to the ReNEW Schools buildings next week. Wednesday, NOLA Public Schools announced that Pre-K through 8th grade students can begin returning to school in-person on Monday, February 1, due to the decline in COVID cases in our community.
October 10 — We want to share an important update from NOLA Public Schools regarding the return of students to ReNEW Schools buildings later in the month of October. Today, NOLA Public Schools announced that 5th through 8th grade students can begin returning to school in-person in mid-October, as long as the health data remains positive in New Orleans.
September 14, 2020 — ReNEW and NOLA Public Schools are continuing to monitor the progress of Hurricane Sally.
NOLA Public Schools has issued a systemwide closure for all public schools on Tuesday, September 15. Thus, ReNEW will be closed and there will be no distance learning Tuesday. Given this, all ReNEW buildings, including the Early Childhood Center will be closed. (Click the story to continue reading)
